Sarah Douglas
MFA, LMHC candidate

Sarah has been facilitating therapeutic drama and expressive arts groups for over ten years. She is currently in the process of obtaining her mental health counseling degree, and joins the Maverick staff as an intern with extensive experience in the mental health field. Sarah has worked with veterans and others diagnosed with PTSD, inpatient psychiatric patients, survivors of domestic violence, trauma affected youth, refugees, autism spectrum young adults, and people interested in creative approaches to enhancing their mental health and well-being. Most recently, she led a five-day retreat at the Omega Institute in Rhinebeck, NY called Putting Ourselves Together Again, which focused on healing trauma and stress.

Sarah provides a caring and safe therapeutic environment, meeting clients wherever they are on their healing journey. She facilitates dynamic group experiences that foster creative self-expression, embodiment, interpersonal skills, and an expanded view of ourselves. In individual therapy, Sarah collaborates with clients to identify behaviors and beliefs that do not serve them, focusing on personal strengths and resources, and the cultivation of a more compassionate way of relating to oneself and others. She enjoys incorporating mindfulness, breath and body-based techniques, and expressive arts into sessions when appropriate.

Because Sarah is an intern under supervision, she is currently able to offer sessions at a reduced rate. Please contact us for further information.
